Made to measure (mtm) PROCESS
made-to-measure is an extremely rewarding method of tailored clothing. we begin with our proprietary house-pattern and build your personalized fit profile based on 60+ raw measurements and postural observations. every garment is almost fully crafted by hand (buttonholes, interior/exterior stitching, button attachment, armhole/sleeve attachment, collar attachment, lining placement) and are constructed using a horse-hair full-canvas piece. we produce our MTM garments off-site, and clients should expect them to arrive in a finished state, but ready for minor adjustments. our on-site tailors will then make these adjustments if necessary (within reason) to meet our standards upon release of the garment.
true bespoke is our flagship program meant for those who desire the best. we craft each garment 100% in house in our on-site tailor shop that rests above our showroom. This garment is fully made by hand and is meant to honor the craft and tradition of the tailoring trade. this process begins with a fitting, where we will take roughly the same measurements as an MTM fitting and will use a fitting garment for reference point. photos will be taken in order to assess posture and asymmetries for our tailors to review. the second session will be a try-on with a basted sample garment in order to perfect the fit before cutting into your actual cloth. after this fitting is complete, we will adjust your paper pattern, strike it onto your cloth, and move forward with cutting your cloth and lining. the next fitting will be with your actual garment in a basted state, enabling us to edit the pattern further in the event something needs to be balanced or shifted. once the fit is double-checked here, we will move on with the finalizing of your garment. expect this process to take upwards of 4 months respective of other ongoing projects. if you are booking a bespoke fitting or consultation, please note this when reserving your time.
if you are not yet committed to placing an order, but would like to gather more information and meet our team, we recommend booking an on-site consultation appointment (30 minutes) to explore our process and options in increased detail.
if you decide you would like to work with us on commissioning a custom suit or tuxedo, we will guide you through a 90 minute appointment taking measurements, choosing cloth, and advising on garment style details.
similarly, custom shirting appointments are roughly 30-45 minutes.
*it is important to note that final decisions concerning fabric, fit, style, and payment will need to be made by the end of the appointment.
total timeline for a MTM suit is typically 2 months (production time + alterations time). production time for shirting is three to four weeks. after production we will have a fitting to make sure everything is up to our standards. any adjustments needed will be performed within our on-site tailoring workshop.
IMPORTANT: use your discretion when ordering a garment that is in conflict with our 2 month timeframe. if your garment arrives within the quoted timeframe BUT misses your event, we cannot offer a refund for the order. we always do our best to meet every request, but cannot 100% guarantee delivery if your event is under 2 months from your placed order date.
once we complete the process with either shirting or suiting and you are happy with the fit, we will save your most current measurements on-file. for future orders, you will only need to choose fabric and style details to create additional custom garments.
if after your final fitting you would like for us to ship your garments, we are happy to do so. the following rates apply:
domestic shipping shirting: $10
domestic shipping suiting: $30
international shipping shirting: $30
international shipping suiting: $100

Following Your investment
we recommend dry-cleaning as seldom as possible. our suiting is made of natural fibers that perform best when not stripped of their oils. if the garment acquires stains that cannot be spot cleaned or begins to have an odor, we then recommend dry cleaning with naturally derived cleaning solutions.
for shirting, we recommend laundering with cold water, hanging dry and pressing, or dry cleaning. for more fitted shirts, it is important to avoid any shrinking.
store suiting in the garment bag we provide in a dry, clean area. the addition of cedar blocks or chips in your bag can help keep moths away.
if your suit starts to show wrinkles after wear or travel, we suggest you steam it or simply hang it up in the bathroom while you shower. if it needs to be pressed, we suggest taking it to a professional. incorrect pressing can burn or warp the fibers that comprise your suit.
we offer adjustments as part of our initial service up to 90 days after your suiting or shirting is delivered to you. if you would like additional adjustments after this time period, we will provide a 25% discount on continuing alterations to custom-made tailors' keep garments.
for garments that are NOT picked up/tried on within 90 days (3 months) of their arrival and your proportions have changed during the in-between time, we offer a 25% discount on fit-related (letting out/taking in) alterations if needed to those garments as well.
